Basic Patrol Rifle Course
Hosted by Jackson Field & Stream and PA State Constable Casey Smith.
Instructed by Mike Turik-retired PSP and certified instructor.
This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills to safely and effectively operate a patrol rifle.
Essential training for law enforcement, enthusiasts and security professionals
Course Modules:
Our course provides hands-on training for all skill levels. Learn from experienced instructors in a safe and controlled environment. Topics include firearm safety, marksmanship fundamentals, loading/unloading procedures, basic maintenance, weapon manipulation, use of force and other relevant material. Course is modeled to MPOTEC standards, upon successful completion students will receive a certificate of proficiency and completion.
Prerequisites & Gear:
Attendees must bring their own rifle, proper eye and ear protection, 3 magazines, and 100 rounds of duty ammo. FMJ rounds will be provided for practice rounds. Course is based on the AR platform. Lunch is provided both days. Note taking materials are beneficial, please email or call Casey to secure your spot. Specific information will be emailed once registration is complete.
Cost of this course will be $150.00 payable to Jackson Field and Stream.
What You Will Learn:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in firearm safety rules, fundamental marksmanship, various shooting positions, and performing immediate action drills to clear malfunctions. The course combines classroom instruction with extensive live-fire range time to build both confidence and competence.

Firearm Safety
Comprehensive review of the universal firearm safety rules and range safety protocols.
Marksmanship Fundamentals
Learn proper stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, and follow-through for consistent accuracy.
Rifle Manipulation
Master techniques for administrative loading, unloading, reloads, and clearing common malfunctions.
